Yet another edition of Books Duncan’s Books and More is excited for! This week we have two authors that we’ve been looking forward to their release date.
First up is Tim Marquitz. Not only is Tim a good friend who is endlessly supportive of other authors but he is an awesome author. His newest book, co-written with Michael Anderle, is “Any Port In A War: An Alien Galactic Military Science Fiction Adventure, Book 1 in a new series, Enemy of My Enemy.
Tim Marquitz is the author of the Demon Squad series, The Enemy of My Enemy series (Kurtherian Gambit) along with Michael Anderle, the Blood War Trilogy, co-author of the Dead West series, as well as several standalone books, and numerous anthology appearances alongside the biggest names in fantasy and horror. Tim also collaborated on Memoirs of a MACHINE, the story of MMA pioneer John Machine Lober.
Of Michael Anderle, he says of himself, in the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I’ve been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.
The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!
Set in the Kurtherian Gambit Universe, “Any Port in a War” described as military science fiction. The book is a stand alone in the universe but if you’ve read the series, you will be familiar the world. Tim’s writing is dynamic and his characters jump off the pages, inciting you to read more. Per the blurb on Amazon, The story is described as spaceship crashing on an alien world. Its combat troops deploy. The aliens run for their lives. Until they can run no more. Then they fight back. Against a superior enemy, technology is key. But the aliens don’t have better tech.
They have grit and catlike reflexes.
I don’t know about you but I’m hooked just from the blurb. If you want to check out the book, the book can be ordered. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org We can also answer any questions you might have.
For our second release, we’re excited for, we have the newest book by Harry Turtledove. Not only are we excited because we’re looking forward to meeting one of the masters of alternate history but one of his books is releasing in paperback edition just weeks before the big event. The book, “Armistice: The Hot War” releases in paperback form today, July 31st.
The final book of the blistering trilogy The Hot War, old hatreds and new chances for revenge are unleashed on an already devastated world—as the Cold War becomes a roaring inferno. Praise for the novel says-“The story’s focus remains on ordinary characters and how they cope with their particular circumstances. . . . Readers who savor the patient accumulation of detail around each scenario will by now be thoroughly addicted.”—Kirkus Reviews
In 1952 American cities lie in ruins. President Harry Truman, in office since 1945, presides over a makeshift government in Philadelphia, suffering his own personal loss and fearing for the future of democracy. In the wake of Hitler’s reign, Germany and America have become allies, and Stalin’s vise hold on power in the USSR persists. Unwilling to trust the Soviet tyrant, Truman launches a long-planned nuclear strike on the city of Omsk—killing Stalin and plunging the Red Army into leaderless, destructive anarchy. Meanwhile, the Baltic states careen toward rebellion, and Poland is seized by rebels bred on war. In a world awash with victims turned victors, refugees, and killers, has Truman struck a blow for peace or fueled more chaos?
If you are a fan of history and like stories of what-if, this is the novel for you. As it is one of a trilogy, it is recommended that you check out the previous novels but Turtledove is the master of alternative history and his focus on characters helps build a story that should be savored.
Duncan’s Books And More will be carrying this novel as well as the rest of the trilogy for CoKoCon 2018.
