Out and About August: Gateway to Geekdom and CokoCon 2019

Since we’re less than a month from our next two events, it’s time for an update! Duncan’s Books and More has two, count ‘em, two events for the month of August. If you want to catch up with our pop up bookstore, now’s your chance!

Our first event is our newest, Gateway to Geekdom. Gateway to Geekdom is Prescott’s local Geek Festival. The Geek Festival will have Artists, Vendors, Video games to miniature paint & take events, panels on comics and movies, plus character meet & greets, and much much more. Check out their website: https://gatewaytogeekdom.com/.

The event is happening August 24th at 3250 Gateway Blvd, Prescott, Arizona from 10am-6pm. We have not just our pop up bookstore but are taking our Amazing Wyked Writers with us. Come check out author/artist T.L. Smith, Poet Bernard “The Klute” Schrober, author Jenn Windrow, and artist/author Mark Rude. Along with the bookstore, they will have their books and artwork available for you to purchase. We look forward to making new fans and maybe seeing a few of our regulars at a new event.

After Gateway to Geekdom, we will be back in our local area, at CokoCon 2019, year 2 of a local fantasy/sci-fi convention. We’ll be hosting guests of honor, an art show, dealers room, gaming, filk, room parties, anything you can name. Held over Labor Day weekend, CokoCon will have programming available for four days, from August 30 to September 2nd. The convention will be back at the Doubletree by Hilton Phoenix North at 10220 N Metro Parkway E, Phoenix, AZ 85051. That’s by the Metrocenter Mall right off I-17 at Peoria Ave. For more information on hours and registration, check out the website, http://www.cokocon.org/2019/index.html

If you’ve been a member of our blog, you may remember that Duncan and I, (Andrea) are involved with this one in a big way. Duncan will have the bookstore in the Dealer’s Hall, all weekend long and I will be in charge of registration. We have a few authors we will be consigning and selling books for, including our Guest of Honor, Emily Devenport. Emily’s books include “Medusa Uploaded” and “Medusa in the Graveyard”. It will be a busy weekend but please come by and look over the books we have available. We will also have new bookmarks available. Duncan already posted a special blog about our new item for sale but come look them over in person. We are super excited about the event and hope to see many new fans at the convention!

Our next events after these two will be later in the fall so check back in the next month or so to find out more news about where the bookstore will be.

See you all out among the stacks!
