Review: Avengers Endgame: Epic

I think all fans were waiting with breathless fervor. While I saw the film and want to give a review, this won’t be a review that spoils the movie for the fans who haven’t seen it yet. That means this will be a bit shorter than my usual in-depth analysis but I can assure you that this film has a million feels and is worth the wait.

Taken from the official synopsis, “Avengers: Endgame” has Tony adrift in space with no food or water and sending a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers — Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, and Bruce Banner — must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos — the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.

The film is the ultimate, epic film that answers questions, wraps up storylines and leaves all of us wondering where MCU will go next. It also managed to stab me in the heart a million times over the course of three hours. It is cohesive, it has surprises and it also fulfills most fans desires for a kick-ass movie.

Starring, well, everyone, the acting is incredible. It is a team effort, everyone coming together to create a beautiful movie that impresses and is impactful. I really don’t want to pinpoint any one performance because as a whole, all the performances in Endgame were amazing, making the audience cheer and break out in tears. None of the writing or the performances lacked in any way. I have to say it’s one of the few films I really am going to have to watch again, just to catch all the details.

My only caveat is if you’ve read the comics or paid attention to the converging storylines, some of the film will be predictable. There are events that have to happen in order for the Avengers to manage to make it to a showdown with Thanos. While I won’t tell you any details, some of the guesses are right and some of them aren’t and while there is some predictability, there are some more than enough surprises, including how the Avengers react to the losses faced in the previous film.

Fans will be delighted, in love and in tears. I know for me, I walked out a bit shell shocked, finally to the end of twenty movies worth of storytelling and now uncertain what comes next. But I do know one thing. I’ll keep watching, because Marvel has made it worth my time, with this film and every other film they’ve produced. I can’t wait for more stories, more heroes, and what those heroes will accomplish.

Rating: 5 Infinity Stones out of 5.
