But Maximillian isn’t quite as perfect as he seems. When he proposes a scheme to fake an epic rivalry and increase their fame, Cyrus can’t resist. Stage the battles, soak up the spotlight, share the spoils—it’s a villainously good marketing plan.
There’s just one hitch. Pretending to hate your nemesis becomes a lot harder when you start falling for them instead.
Nemesis Mine by Amy Archer is funny and irreverent, full of humor with dynamic characters that leap off the page. Cyrus is full of cat energy, unwilling to admit to liking Max while Max is full on puppy energy, upbeat and bright. Yet, the pair’s relationship is well written, especially as Cyrus learns to open up and be vulnerable.
Neither character is truly good or evil but their abilities are all about what they do with them. The story is all about choosing what you want to do, either help or harm. And even though Cyrus has mighty plant abilities, those abilities can do more than even he expects. The insecurities of each character and how they view their abilities truly creates an emotional story.
If you like funny and irreverent romances, emotional characters and lovers to enemies, this novel is for you. Cyrus is loveable despite trying to be cool and Max is alluring. You will fall in love with this pair of enemies that slowly become lovers.
