Lexi Darling has always been a city girl through and through. New York is loud, crowded, and just chaotic enough to keep her mind off everything she’d rather not think about—especially the eerily realistic nightmares that have plagued her all her life. As the nights grow longer and an uncanny evil creeps closer, Lexi must uncover the truth behind the curse before Midas—and everyone in it—is consumed. Because in Midas, some secrets refuse to stay buried—and some nightmares never end.
Some Kind of Haunted by Hazel Beck is a horror romance that will enthrall you and haunt you all at the same time. I will admit, I didn’t like Lexi when she was first introduced but I grew to love her, especially as we get to see her vulnerabilities and her bonding with the residents of Midas. Her passionate relationship with Jack is engaging and the creepy build to the ultimate resolution of the story will keep you glued to your seat.
After I fell in love with Lexi and Jack, I also loved the secondary characters and like how they are incorporated into the mystery that is Midas and how to stop the horrific fate waiting for the town if the group doesn’t find an answer. I also like the belonging and found family that Lexi experiences even when the plot darkens and difficulties surround Lexi.
If you like a haunting horror romance with a grumpy sunshine relationship and enemies to lovers, Some Kind of Haunted by Hazel Beck is perfect. The romance is enthralling and heated, the plot is complex and interesting and the ending is riveting. I loved the story and like the set up for more with the secondary characters.
